What yOU CAN EXPECT

Virtual therapy for women in South Carolina or Georgia

Starting virtual therapy can bring up many feelings about what to expect, including nervousness. I get it! It can feel weird talking to a stranger about ourselves. It takes time to build trust with another person, and online therapy is no different. I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and safe. Part of feeling safe is knowing what to expect, particularly if you have never tried therapy before, so here’s a little more info about what this process will be like.

Initially, we will connect via email or telephone, and if you are interested, we will schedule a free 15-minute phone call where you will tell me why you are seeking therapy. During the call, I will answer any questions you have, and we’ll decide if we want to work together. We will schedule your first therapy session if we decide to work together. I will get your email address and send you a link to set up an account with Therapynotes, my online HIPAA-compliant electronic health record. Through this, you will access the client portal. You will have a few documents to read and sign, such as consent for treatment, your emergency contacts, etc.

Our first therapy session is a chance for us to get to know each other better. It will consist of me clarifying any remaining questions about the documents you signed and discussing in more detail what you are struggling with and how you want therapy to help you (identifying treatment goals). In subsequent sessions, we will “get to work” on those goals. I am here for you, and we will work together to help alleviate your distress.

  • Insurance

I accept Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford Health and Oscar in Georgia and South Carolina.

  • No Surprises Act

In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, I am required to notify all healthcare consumers of your Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.”

This Act requires that I notify you of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by a non-participating provider and provide options to receive care from an in-network provider if available. Additionally, I must give you a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services for the duration of treatment. It is difficult to determine the proper length of treatment for mental health care, but I will do my best to provide an estimate based on the average length of treatment.

“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day saying “I will try again tomorrow.”
